Music Director

Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne

Beginning Date: September 1, 2009

Compensation: $15.00 per hour

Works with: Minister, Accompanist, Choir

Reports to: Minister

This job is grant funded with the hope of addition to the 2010-2011 UUCC budget.

Hours:
- 6 hours per week for 40 weeks per year.
Sunday Services:
- Coordinate and conduct the musical portions of: Sunday morning and Christmas Eve services; plus other special events (such as the Canvass / Pledge Drive program).
- Participate in planning the above with the Minister and/or Sunday Services Committee.
Planning and Administration:
- Meet with Minister and Accompanist to plan for services.
- Research and recommend choral arrangements and thematic music in consultation with them.
Weekly Choir Rehearsals:
- Responsible for weekly rehearsals and all Choir performances for 40 weeks.
Music Budget:
- Works with Music Committee to plan for the acquisition, maintenance, repair and usage of church instruments, hymn books, the music library and other materials.
Communications:
- Meets with the Music Committee to publicize the music program and communicates with the congregation through the church newsletter.
Funerals / Weddings / Other Ceremonies:
- Available for music consultation for weddings, funerals and other services that fall under the auspices of the church. If parties have not made their own arrangements, Music Director will be consulted first before other musicians are asked.
- Music Director will contract separately with parties involved.
Arrangement for Substitute:
- Arrangement for a substitute, as needed, will be made in cooperation with the Minister and Accompanist.
Professional Development:
- Will be provided a membership in the UU Musicians Network.
