Dear UUCC Families and friends…
a note from your Director of Religious Education

WE NEED CONNECTION!!! (is that just me?) Watch Facebook for more info coming soon on activities and Zoom rooms/parties to help keep us busy during our isolation (we might even learn something along the way).

I can imagine the changes taking place in families and homes all over our world right now. My heart is heavy. We need each other. Remember… We are strong. We are resilient. Take a minute to breath. We’re slowing down. Life is a little different for a while. Please reach out to myself or Rev Hannah if we can be of any help. We are here. We are with you. You are loved!

Just breath (😊)…

Mary Scherden,
Director of Faith Development, She/Her/Hers
Chair – Mountain Desert District – LREDA

Faith Development has lots going on! Check us out! You can join us right from your own home. #stawawaystayconnected

Facebook posts and check ins – If you haven’t already, please join our UUCC Faith Development Facebook page. In the next couple weeks we’ll be figuring out our need and what can be offered via ZOOM and Facebook Live posts VS ability/bandwidth. Your input is essential.

For Faith Development

For general church info and posts

For those without Facebook. I understand and am working to make information available to everyone. If you don’t have/use Facebook and would like an update via text or email, I can do that, send a note to me, Mary Scherden, Director of Faith Development at In the meantime, I’m looking for apps that can keep us connected without the use of Facebook but still keeping the Safe Congregations rule of 3 in effect. Keep watching your UUCC Newsletter for additional information.

Chalice Challenge

Most importantly, I want to let everyone know about the #chalicechallenge designed by one of my friends who’s a DRE in Florida. Even the web page if we get there 🙂 Lets get involved!  Everyone get creative and use ONLY what can be found around their house. Please post a picture of your amazing, one of a kind, creative chalice to this post on our FB page and add #chalicechallenge to your post so everyone in the UU world can also enjoy our creativity!

You can view a Chalice Challenge video below:

You can call in via phone or use your laptops/computer/phones camera to connect to ZOOM.
  1. what one thing can you not do without during this time of social isolation?
  2. How are you handling kids, youth and grownups all working from home? A schedule? play it by ear?

If you have any Joys, Concerns, Personal Congratulations (Birthdays, Anniversaries, Graduations, etc.) that you would like to share with the Congregation, please email the administrator at The newsletter is published every Wednesday at noon, so submissions must be received by 10am Tuesday morning to be in that week’s newsletter.

Please Note:
  • If you would like your submission to run more than one week, please include that in your email.

Thank you!
Below you will find links to participate in yoga classes via the Zoom video chat app.  For those who haven’t used it, Zoom allows you to watch and listen to the presenter, and you have the option of turning off or on your own audio and video. If you do not yet use Zoom, you can download it from your app store either on your computer or phone, or both.  It is easier on a bigger screen.  I advise trying it out with a friend or loved one before class to get used to its features, or contact me and I can walk you through it.
Each class has its own link.  It seems all you have to do is click the links below, near the start of class time.  So far I haven’t had to also type in the meeting ID.  If you’d like to try it sooner, let me know and perhaps we can do a trial run.
For now, Zoom limits meetings of 3 or more to just 40 minutes.  I am in the process of paying a subscription fee to upgrade so that we can have longer class times: an hour to 75 minutes is my goal.  Not sure how long that will take, as there was a glitch when I tried to do that earlier today.
As for payment, I’m going to try a social experiment of setting up a PayPal and Vimeo account and letting it be on a voluntary donation basis as to if and how much people are willing or able to contribute. Per a couple of students’ suggestion, you may also mail payment to me:

Any scheduled event that was to be held at the church has been cancelled at that location.

You should contact the committee chair or contact for the event to get information on alternate locations or methods of meeting.

The Board will reassess the situation in early April to determine whether activities, including in-house worship services, will resume in the building.
Caring for one another is more important than ever right now. In order to ensure that our congregation is well-tended during our physical separation, checking in on one another is critical.

If you would be willing to commit to checking in on a list of 10-12 households each week, please email Rev. Hannah or text/call her at 414-870-1028.

You would be responsible for reaching out via phone call or text to those households once a week to check in and see how they are faring, whether anyone is sick, and what support they might need. You wouldn’t be expected to meet those needs all on your own. It is just helpful to have folks out there making sure that we know how our folks are doing.

If you have a committee meeting or other UUCC-related gathering scheduled between now and the end of March, please contact Rev. Hannah at to schedule access to the Zoom “room” for most UUCC meetings. Please contact Mary at to schedule things related to Faith Development programming for children and youth.
This is also an anxious time financially, for individuals and organizations alike. If you are able, UUCC values and appreciates your continued support through this time. If you typically put cash or a check in the offering plate on Sunday mornings, please consider mailing that donation to the church, giving via our website, or giving via our mobile giving app.

If your financial situation changes and you need to adjust an automatic deduction, please email for more information.

If you find yourself in need of emergency financial assistance, please email Rev. Hannah at or call/text her at 414-870-1028.
Email and text scammers are continuing to target churches through this crisis. A member of our staff or lay leadership will never email or text you and instruct you to purchase gift cards. If you receive a suspicious request, please alert a staff member immediately.
Important! Please Read!

We have been experiencing a growing issue with peanut residue in the building, especially in the library.  Please, do not bring peanut products into the building, and if your little ones enjoy their peanut butter snacks before coming, please be sure their hands are clean before they touch surfaces used by everyone.  We are seeing almost daily allergic reactions, so we ask you to please be diligent. It may be an inconvenience to you, but it can be life-threatening to those who are allergic.
