Membership Classes at UUCC!

There will be no membership classes in March due to our Living Generously kickoff activities. We look forward to seeing you again April 1st!

Have you been thinking about becoming a member of our congregation? Are you interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism or UUCC? Starting this month, we’ll be holding our new member classes on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 11:45 – 12:45 in the Library. On the first Sunday of the month, Rev. Hannah will lead us in an exploration of Unitarian Universalist history and identity. On the third Sunday, our Membership team will lead us through some history and identity of UUCC specifically. Newcomers and long-timers and everybody in between are welcome to attend!

Both classes will be required before joining UUCC, and there will be an opportunity to join the church on the 4th Sunday of every month! If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Hannah at hrvillnave@gmail.comShamanic Womb Cleanse Workshop

Wonderful News to Share: EVENING YOGA RETURNS TO UUCC, Week of Feb. 12th!!

Mondays, 5:00-6:00pm YOGA For GENTLEMEN(GENTS!!): This hour-long class is for men new to Yoga, those who consider themselves beginners, or those who want to return to Yoga with a more “lived in” body. It will be designed to meet each of you where you are in terms of strength, flexibility, balance and relaxation. Each pose will be an opportunity to work with your breath and your body to find your version of a pose. Every pose in Yoga can be simple, moderate, or more challenging. What is easy for one might be difficult for someone else. Deeper, further and more pretzel-like is NOT the goal, listening to the body and using the breath to find and customize your pose at your pace IS the goal.

Classes are designed to address aches, pains and range of motion issues as you build flexibility, strength and balance at your own pace. We will also use Breathwork and Guided Meditation. Goals include finding ease through relaxing the Body, Mind and Spirit. Women are welcome, but this is designed for the guys. You know who you are!!

THURSDAYS; 5:30-6:30pm: GENTLE YOGA AFTER WORK.  This is a Gentle Yoga class where we work with Yoga poses to release tension from our bodies and minds. We do poses that will release the spine in all 6 directions, and stretches that are designed to relax and counteract all the repetitive postures we do every day that create stiffness, discomfort and pain. We learn to work with any sensitivities and limitations of our bodies such as previous injury, illness or surgeries. Yoga class is a time to slow down, look inward, and work meditatively with the body and the breath to find a level of grace and peace within each movement. Give it a try!! What do you have to lose except a sense of being frazzled, overwhelmed or disconnected!!!

UUCC has Yoga mats to loan, and props such as blankets, straps, and blocks. We meet in the Social Hall, and payment is by Donation, suggested $7-$10 per class. You will be asked to sign a Release Form with contact information and a few questions about health concerns as they may relate to your Yoga practice.

Please email/call/or text me with your interest/intentions, or just show up in comfortable, non-binding clothes. Feel free to contact me with any questions, or if you would like the Release Form beforehand.

peanut-allergyCHURCH NOTICE:

We have posted signs up around the church a number of times but again we must stress the importance of NOT bringing any peanuts or foods with peanuts in them into the building at all. We have a member of our congregation that has a deathly allergy to peanuts and anything with peanuts in them. When this member discovers there are peanuts in the building, they have to leave immediately. This means that they miss out on our various activities or meetings that they need to be at.  The allergy is critical and we DO NOT want to alienate this member or any others who have this allergy. PLEASE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! that we cannot allow peanuts into the building. (If you are bringing in a packaged item, please try to check that it wasn’t manufactured in a facility that processes anything with peanuts.)

A Time for Compassion
Music to Help Us Understand

Sunday, February 25, 2018, 7:00 pm
Unitarian Universalist Church, 3005 Thomes Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001
Tickets:  $15/adults; $10 seniors/students

As the Cheyenne Chamber Singers continues with its 2017-18 “Season in Time,” the group presents perhaps its most powerful and evocative concert yet . . a performance entitled “A Time for Compassion.”

The first selection, “On Compassion” by award-winning composer Stephanie Andrews, sets the stage for this performance.  From this piece:  “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.  Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”

The choral music in “A Time for Compassion” is full of messages important to our well-being and happiness . . . and encourage inclusiveness, acceptance, and harmony in our lives.  This concert will offer clarity on what’s important . . . and is not to be missed!
