Bob Twyford, a founding member of this congregation, passed away last Thursday, August 11th, 2022 in hospice care in Windsor, Colorado. He was 95 years old. Bob helped in the creation of the UU congregation in 1961 alongside his wife Wavis. The congregation was first housed in the “little yellow church,” where Bob claimed the building was structurally unsound. Oral history claims that he declined to enter the church building (though he supported the work in many other ways) until the congregation was able to purchase the building in which we currently reside. He could often be found around the building and grounds, fixing up the church and keeping everything in good shape, often aided by his friend Mike Shonsey. We offer our sympathies to Bob’s family and his many friends within and beyond the congregation. You are invited to sign a card which we will mail to the family after the worship service this Sunday.Meet the Minister – Join Rev. Elizabeth in the library following the worship service on August 21st to get to know them a little better and share more of your story and how you came to be a part of this congregation.Join us for a movie and postcard activity on Aug 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 at the UUCC Church (3005 Thomes Ave, 82001). Feeling like some Wyoming Legislators need to know your opinion before the session starts in 2023?  We can’t vote  . . .yet . . .but our legislative representatives should know what we are thinking! Democracy 101 from those of us that will be voting sooner than you think  and those who fought this battle before!! Wyoming politics and how democracy works plus tacos and a movie!            Sign Up for Wellspring Small Groups – UU Wellspring is a 10-month spiritual deepening course for Unitarian Universalists. Group members experience deep listening and spiritual reflection in small groups which inspire personal and community transformation through shared reflection on spiritual topics and UU Theology. A sense of personal purpose and meaning arises from UU Wellspring’s unique combination of spiritual practices, spiritual companionship, readings, and heart-opening sessions. If you are interested in becoming part of a group this year, please email Rev. Elizabeth or Lauren Danley to confirm. We will be choosing group date(s) and time(s) by Sept. 1st, and we need to know how many groups we can expect to run. Planners Wanted! – Our Worship Team would love to put on an Equinox drum circle and potluck! People of all ages would have a blast at a Game Night! Monthly movies would be a fun time for the whole family! But to do any of this, we need YOU to help us make a plan! If you have interest, knowledge, or the ability to wash some dishes, please contact Rev. Elizabeth or Kayla Lyday and let us know you’re willing and able. Monday – Bibles and Beer: every Monday at 5:30 PM – Bibles and Beer is an interfaith study session on a Bible passage chosen weekly. Join them in person at Uncle Charlie’s or via Zoom. Please email Rodger McDaniel at rmc81448@gmail.com so he can add you to the list of those sent the Zoom link each week. *********************************************************************

********************************* Fall Spiritual Practices:Wednesday – Sacred Song Circle: Join Rev. Elizabeth and others in the Sanctuary every Wednesday evening at 5:30pm for a reflective song circle where we will share in singing simple tunes from our hymnal and beyond as a meditative practice. This is not choir or performance, and no singing experience is necessary in order to lift your voice and your spirit with us. Sacred Song Circle begins on Sept. 7th.
Thursday – Lectio Divina: On Thursdays at 12:30pm, join Rev. Elizabeth in the library or on Zoom for 30 minutes at
https://zoom.us/j/94751887891?pwd=N3laOGNJM2pUZ2RtVExlYjFtM1Zldz09 to reflect on the sacred meanings of poetry in relation to your life and inner being. Lectio Divina follows a guided format of reflection with a new poem provided each week. Sessions will happen weekly beginning on Sept. 8th. If you would like to recommend a piece of poetry for a future session, email it to Rev. Elizabeth at minister@uucheyenne.org.

New to UU – on Sunday, Sept. 11th, Rev. Elizabeth invites those who are visiting and any newer friends of this congregation to the library for snacks and a short introduction to the congregation. This is a chance to hear more about what Unitarian Universalism is, ponder how this faith might fit with your life, and find out what our church’s purpose is in the world. We invite and encourage your questions in a shared quest for meaning.

A Great Experiment – Transitions abound here at UUCC in ministry, patterns, programs, and connections… What might it look like to get curious together, like we’re engaged in an experiment? How might the scientific method hold spiritual value for us in our approach to life and community?
