Wheel of Life

Rev. Hannah Roberts Villnave

On Sunday, January 7th, we’ll be doing a multigenerational Wheel of Life service where we acknowledge these transitions during worship. If you’ve had a birth, adoption, marriage or relationship commitment, the addition or loss of a job, divorce or relationship ending, graduation, the purchase or loss of a home, moving to a new place, retirement, significant diagnosis, or death in the family or community — we want to include that in our service. Please email Rev. Hannah at hrvillnave@gmail.com with the transition you want included in the service by Friday.

Membership Classes at UUCC!

The next class is Sunday January 7th!

Have you been thinking about becoming a member of our congregation? Are you interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism or UUCC? Starting this month, we’ll be holding our new member classes on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 11:45 – 12:45 in the Library. On the first Sunday of the month, Rev. Hannah will lead us in an exploration of Unitarian Universalist history and identity. On the third Sunday, our Membership team will lead us through some history and identity of UUCC specifically. Newcomers and long-timers and everybody in between are welcome to attend!

Both classes will be required before joining UUCC, and there will be an opportunity to join the church on the 4th Sunday of every month! If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Hannah at hrvillnave@gmail.com

UU 9th Grade Listening Session

Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Rainbow Room

The FD Committee will be having a listening session to talk about the current discussions in our cluster about the UU Front Range 9th Grade Trip to the Hopi and Navajo Nations. We encourage people who have been on the trip or want to go on the trip in the future, parents whose children have been on the trip, and everyone interested in learning more about the trip to attend. if you have questions call Jennifer at 421-8092.

We’re BAAAAAAAACK!

Ms. Marcie is back on the clock from her maternity leave and choir practice will resume Wednesday, January 10th. New singers and familiar choir members alike are encouraged to join us Wednesdays at 7:00pm in the sanctuary.

SERVICE AUCTION DINNER

Last year you helped provide a wonderful potluck dinner for the Auction. Let’s do it again!  We need stew, soups, or chili in crockpots, salads, and desserts. We need folks to help with setup and cleanup. And, since we don’t want this fabulous event to cost the church any money, we are asking for some donations to help pay the expenses. You will be able to sign up at church or contact Joe Corrigan at joecorrigan@bresnan.net or Sandi Gaulke at stgaulke@openvistas.net

Exciting  Service Auction News

We have set the date for the Service Auction and it will be Feb. 3, 2018.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the biggest church fundraiser of the year.

We will all enjoy  an evening with friends, dinner, outstanding live entertainment. We will also be raffling another Beautiful  Quilt  created by Arlene Shanklin.

Join the fun, plan to attend, and buy raffle tickets at any Sunday Service Coffee Hour starting in December or at the Service Auction Feb. 3, 2018!

Free child care will be available.

Many thanks to the folks from UUCC who donated so generously to our Giving Tree! Food items went to St Joseph’s Food Pantry, clothing and personal care supplies were given to Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless, children’s clothing went to Family Promise, and clothing, personal care items and all the beautiful crocheted hats and scarves 🧣 were donated to Safehouse. Your gifts were received by each organization with much gratitude!

Family Promise

Our Family Promise week is going well. Thanks to all who signed up to volunteer! We still need some help breaking down the rooms on Sunday. This will be done after the Inter-generational service as the classrooms can then be exited in a leisurely manner by our guests.

A class is being offered at Grace United Methodist that would be useful to those who work with the homeless– Family Promise or Comea Dinners — or anyone who would like to better understand the issues faced by people living in poverty. The book “What Every Church Member Should Know about Poverty” by Bill Ehlig & Ruby Payne, Ph.D. will be used. The class will be led by Melissa Martin. Sign up is needed by Jan 8th to get the books in time. Click Here for dates and details.

peanut-allergyCHURCH NOTICE:

We have posted signs up around the church a number of times but again we must stress the importance of NOT bringing any peanuts or foods with peanuts in them into the building at all. We have a member of our congregation that has a deathly allergy to peanuts and anything with peanuts in them. When this member discovers there are peanuts in the building, they have to leave immediately. This means that they miss out on our various activities or meetings that they need to be at.  The allergy is critical and we DO NOT want to alienate this member or any others who have this allergy. PLEASE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! that we cannot allow peanuts into the building. (If you are bringing in a packaged item, please try to check that it wasn’t manufactured in a facility that processes anything with peanuts.)
