Join us this Sunday at 10 am as we wonder about the cost of our high expectations for ourselves and one another.  We’ll explore how we can gain wisdom from Buddhist teaching about releasing those expectations and cultivating a “beginner’s mind.”

Following our 10:00 service, we begin our classes this week. For Adult Faith Development, we are offering 3 classes:
  • Every Text Is Sacred (Library) – Join Rev. Hannah to learn about how ancient Hebrew and Christian practices for reading scripture can apply to poetry, novels, or any text you find sacred!
  • Harvesting the Garden (Social Hall) – Join Birgitt Paul, Steve Scott, and the garden crew to learn about (and do!) some harvesting in the UUCC Garden.
  • Introduction to Baha’i (Sanctuary) – Join Sara Burlingame to learn about this global faith with more than 5 million followers!
Our children’s classes will be downstairs.

Spirit Play ages (3yrs – 3rd grade)  – One parent and care givers/guardian is asked to attend the first Spirit Play class with their child/youth to get acquainted with the new classroom and procedures.

Harry and UU (3rd grade – adult) – Get ready for some fun as we join Dumbledore’s Army and fight Horcruxes all year long! It’s going to be a blast… wait till you see our Harry Potter classroom!!! Come join the fun!

All are welcome!

JOYS and CONCERNS
Kelly Hill had hip replacement surgery on September 5th. She is needing assistance at home with tasks such as laundry, cooking, and possibly other basic hygiene related things; she will also need transportation to physical therapy and possibly to work (once she is able to work), and she has expressed a desire for transportation to Sunday Services at UUCC after her first complete week of recovery. Please contact her directly at 303-834-0394 if you are able to help or just offer encouragement. Even the smallest things can be very helpful! Kelly has asked asked that we express deep gratitude on her behalf for any support she is able to receive. Many, many thanks!!!
Dani Rosiler is having knee surgery Wednesday September 11th.  Please keep her in your thoughts.
Please keep Rochelle Ames in your prayers. She had hip surgery on Monday, September 9th. She will be needing assistance in the coming weeks during her recovery. One thing she needs help with at this time is that her car is in Loveland at Affordable Auto and Body Repair and has been ready to pick up for a week. She needs someone to take her rental car down and bring her car back to Cheyenne.

Rochelle does not have a working cellphone number at this time, so you can contact her at the hospital for now. She is in Rm. 4206. (The hospital number is 634-2273.)  If you can offer assistance to Rochelle, you may contact her in hospital. She may be moved to rehab at the end of the week.  You can also reach out to Mike Lammer at gmlammers60@gmail.com or email the administrator with your information and how you can help, and she will pass it on to Rochelle.
If you have any Joys, Concerns, Personal Congratulations (Birthdays, Anniversaries, Graduations, etc.) that you would like to share with the Congregation, please email the administrator at administrator@uucheyenne.org. The newsletter is published every Wednesday at noon, so submissions must be received by 10am Tuesday morning to be in that week’s newsletter.

Please Note:
  • If you would like your submission to run more than one week, please include that in your email.
  • If you would like your submission included in that Sunday’s Joys and Concerns section of the service, please include this in your email; otherwise it will only be in the newsletter.
Thank you!

Families of 3rd graders – The Faith Development team learned that we have lots of 3rd grade youth who really would like to have a choice of what class they attend this year. Since we’re starting off our very first Spirit Play classroom, we’d love to have the youth attend in Spirit Play but we realize the excitement around the Harry Potter curriculum is overwhelming great. If your 3rd grader would like to attend Harry and UU class they are welcome to check them out. Our 3rd grade youth will have the choice of attending either the classrooms this year.

Have fun and find your inner wizard if you’d like! OR come hang our with the younger crowd. We’ll explore all kinds of faith based UU stories and traditions through our Spirit Play curriculum. More about each curriculum can be found here.
