Hello new friends and neighbors,
I am so pleased to have arrived in Cheyenne, found a house, and settled myself and my cat into our abode in preparation for beginning my work with you! This first week was a whirlwind of meeting with some of our leaders, beginning to plan and dream together, getting my feet on the ground and my passwords on the email. I’m so ready to get back into conversation with those I met during Candidate Week, meet those who I haven’t yet, and deepen my conversations with all of you as the year progresses.
This will be a year for creativity, experimentation, and getting to know one another as we begin our journey into new ministry. I hope you will come along on what we’re beginning to call our Year of YES! This means Y(our) Experimental Space, where we’ll try out new programming and formats, notice what we love and what we miss, and try not to hold too tightly to anything we’re doing, letting ourselves be informed by what is actually happening in the space and the feedback we’re getting from one another to find out what we might try next.
For our experiments to work though, we need YOU!
We’ll need you to try things out, and even take on leadership in one or two (but not all) of these new experiments that we are running. For example, have you always wanted to be involved in worship, but you’re not much for speaking in front of an audience? We’ll be doing ritual and activity-based worship some Sundays, so come talk to me, and let your artistic side be a part of the action! I’ll need folks to tell me directly when something is working great, or feels like a stretch, or really doesn’t work for you. Be in communication with our Shared Ministry team, the Board, and me!
I look forward to a year in which we are all becoming a part of our congregation’s growth and health.
With hope and delight,
Rev. Elizabeth

Gene Heater has been invited to host an in person meditation session at the The Hawthorn Tree Tea House.
This is a time and place for beginners to learn the technique of mindfulness meditation to establish peace, balance, and harmony in their personal lives or as a platform for spiritual development and for experienced practitioners of all traditions to share their practices and further their development as we grow together in a spiritual community. All are welcome.  Please feel free to join us.
We meet Mondays upstairs at the Hawthorn Tree.
9:15 if you need instruction.
9:30 Meditation

Family Promise is a great program that our faith community has been contributing to for many years. This valuable program needs some new coordinators.
Jessica Taken has volunteered for the coordinator position and now needs volunteers to complete the team.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Family Promise team, please contact a member of the Committee on Shared Ministry and add your name to the sign up sheet at the Share the Plate bulletin board!

Coffee Hour sign up sheet is available at the clipboard corner

Join us for a movie and postcard activity on Aug 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 at the UUCC Church (3005 Thomes Ave, 82001).  Feeling like some Wyoming Legislators need to know your opinion before the session starts in 2023?  We can’t vote  . . .yet . . .but our legislative representatives should know what we are thinking! Democracy 101 from those of us that will be voting sooner than you think  and those who fought this battle before!! Wyoming politics and how democracy works plus tacos and a movie!
We are pleased to announce that our new online giving platform is ready for use!  You can securely give from our website at
uucheyenne.org/give or via text message [text UUCC to 73256].
You can even create an account to set up recurring donations, view your giving history and use our free mobile app.
If you’d like to set up an account, please contact bookkeeper@uucheyenne.org and we will send you an invitation to join our online community.

 Upcoming Worship

Aug. 28 – A Great Experiment – Transitions abound here at UUCC in ministry, patterns, programs, and connections… What might it look like to get curious together, like we’re engaged in an experiment? How might the scientific method hold spiritual value for us in our approach to life and community?

Sept. 4 – Work and Play – This Labor Day weekend, we think about what makes the difference between work and play, about how we are drawn into the drive to “do” or feel the deep need to simply “be” and how we mark transitions between the two and find value in the space and tension between these polarities.
