Unitarian UniversalistChurch of CheyenneA community of refuge where all have equal worth and are invited into spiritual exploration as a foundation for: hope. compassionate service. action. Drought and Flood – On our annual Ingathering Sunday, join us in celebration of our shared community. We encourage you to bring water with you, whether from far off travels or your own backyard, as a symbol of your life’s meaning joining a greater whole. Today, we contemplate the importance of water as a metaphor for the congregation and denomination, as many drops flowing into a common ocean by many paths.
Rev. ElizabethAll are welcome!
Want to join us in person on Sunday?

We gather at 10 am for worship in our sanctuary at
3005 Thomes Avenue; masks are encouraged and optional. Want to join us virtually for worship?

Dear community,This is a month of learning and growth, and of finding our balance once again as we return to the cycles of church life together. I know that there are so many emotions swirling around in our community, like waters in a stream. There is grief from Rev. Hannah’s leaving, relief in finding new ministry, joy in new programming, worry, and uncertainty in the changes already underway, so much is in bud and not yet blooming, so much feels like a burden to carry right now.
I urge you not to bottle up those feelings and keep them locked away. Tell me, and tell one another what is going on for you! Do you have hope? Let the COSM, minister, and Board know what you’re excited for! Are you scared or sad? Bring that as well, to the COSM, the Board, and your new minister. When we go through our feelings and not around them, we are better and stronger as a community, more able to hold one another in our pain and our celebrations. We can say YES to life, to love, to hope, to truth.A hymn from our Teal Hymnal asks,When I am troubled, will you listen to me?When I am lonely, will you be my friend? Will you be there for me, comfort me tenderly? Will you share some of your feelings with me?If you will show me commitment, then I may learn to love as you do,then I may learn to love. This song is often thought of as a “religious education song,” about the ways we teach our children, but I find that people of all ages can use this kind of teaching, this reminder that we, together, all need love, care, and friendship. We all need community, and here, we are building one together.
I hope you’ll join me for conversation on Tuesday mornings during Community Office Hours, sing with me on Wednesday evenings, contemplate poetry during your Tuesday lunch break, or find a Wellspring group where deeper sharing is encouraged throughout the coming year. There’s so much growing, so much in bud, and you are the ones to help us bloom! In anticipation of growth,Rev. Elizabeth

Welcome Rev Elizabeth!
Last winter the Committee on Shared Ministry studied the survey that the Ministerial Search Team conducted. We identified specific actions and activities that you wanted to improve your UUCC experience. You the congregation spoke; we listened. At our July meeting we listed five areas to govern and prioritize our efforts in the coming months. There are other areas we’re working on, but these are our top five. CoSM team members have been assigned to each of these areas. Please contact us in person or at cosm@uucheyenne.org to make suggestions or for inquiries.
1. Coffee Hour–Kayla Lyday
2. Pastoral Care—Mike Lammers
3. Worship & Faith Development—Lauren Danley
4. Small Group Ministries—Lauren Danley & Natalie Vernon
5. Family Promise—Jessica Taken
UUCC’s weekly newsletter is filling up with new opportunities to participate in, to make a difference in our community, and to grow our individual and group spirituality. Additional program offerings are in progress and information on them will be forthcoming.
Your CoSM team: Birgitt, Kayla, Mike, Natalie, Lauren, and Rev Elizabeth
“Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.”
~Erma Bombeck
Family Promise is a great program that our faith community has been contributing to for many years. This valuable program needs some new coordinators.
Jessica Taken has volunteered for the coordinator position and now needs volunteers to complete the team.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Family Promise team, please contact a member of the Committee on Shared Ministry and add your name to the sign up sheet at the Share the Plate bulletin board!

                                               Thank you!
Planners Wanted! – Our Worship Team would love to put on an Equinox drum circle and potluck! People of all ages would have a blast at a Game Night! Monthly movies would be a fun time for the whole family! But to do any of this, we need YOU to help us make a plan! If you have interest, knowledge, or the ability to wash some dishes, please contact Rev. Elizabeth or Kayla Lyday and let us know you’re willing and able.____________________________________
Family Fun Night on Sept. 16th!
Join our community for a good time for all ages on Sept. 16th, with a potluck dinner at 5:30 pm and potluck games after that (bring whatever you find fun to play and see who wants to join you!). We welcome people of all ages for fun and games together. We need two volunteers for set up and two for clean up as well, so please let a COSM member know if you’re available for one of those tasks.

Fall Spiritual Practices:Wednesday – Sacred Song Circle: Join Rev. Elizabeth and others in the Sanctuary every Wednesday evening at 5:30pm for a reflective song circle where we will share in singing simple tunes from our hymnal and beyond as a meditative practice. This is not choir or performance, and no singing experience is necessary in order to lift your voice and your spirit with us. Sacred Song Circle begins on Sept. 7th.
Tuesday – Lectio Divina: Tuesdays at 11:30am, join Rev. Elizabeth in the library or on Zoom for 30 minutes at
https://zoom.us/j/94751887891?pwd=N3laOGNJM2pUZ2RtVExlYjFtM1Zldz09 to reflect on the sacred meanings of poetry in relation to your life and inner being. Lectio Divina follows a guided format of reflection with a new poem provided each week. Sessions will happen weekly beginning on Sept. 6th. If you would like to recommend a piece of poetry for a future session, email it to Rev. Elizabeth at minister@uucheyenne.org.
New to UU – on Sunday, Sept. 11th, Rev. Elizabeth invites those who are visiting and any newer friends of this congregation to the library for snacks and a short introduction to the congregation. This is a chance to hear more about what Unitarian Universalism is, ponder how this faith might fit with your life, and find out what our church’s purpose is in the world. We invite and encourage your questions in a shared quest for meaning.
