It’s hard to believe that it’s almost February, and that I’ve been here in Cheyenne for six months already. It has been such a delight to get to know many of you, and I look forward to continuing to get to know this community. Cheyenne is certainly a place where folks have learned how to keep going, even when the wind is not at your back!

So it’s appropriate that our worship theme for February is Perseverance, and I’m really looking forward to what we’ll be exploring together in worship. We’ll be exploring how defeat informs our perseverance this coming Sunday the 4th. Then, on February 11th, we’ll be commemorating Charles Darwin’s birthday (he would be 209 this year!) by wondering together about the lessons we can learn from evolution and the perseverance of life on this planet. On the 18th, we’ll have a joyous multigenerational celebration of perseverance, and on the 25th, we’ll delve into some sources of spiritual sustenance for perseverance. It’s sure to be a great month of worship all around, and I can’t wait to see you on a Sunday morning.

I’m also looking forward to having a great time together at UUCC’s annual auction. It will be a time to celebrate our community and share our resources to support the work that our church does, both in our own lives and in the wider community. You might even see a few auction items from yours truly (including a board game night!) that might entice you to bid!

If you’d like to find a time to chat — about church, life, or anything in between! — please don’t hesitate to reach out at hrvillnave@gmail.com.
